ENGLISH  ROTHERHAM’S - Here we have an excellent, well running open face Sterling Silver  man’s size 16 pocket watch with  stem wind and pin set with movement and case by John Rotherham and Sons for Russells Jewelers and Watchmakers Ltd.  of 18 Church Street, Liverpool.  The watch is signed by Russells on dial and branded with Trade Mark  as “The Time O Day” in fancy engraving on the movement.  It is an English lever escapement and has a total of 19 jewels and is sparkling and running in good order.  Movement is signed Russell’s Ltd.  and states “MAKERS TO THE QUEEN”.  The double back sterling silver case has Birmingham hallmarks for sterling silver and date of 1896 as well the makers mark of John Rotherham.  Rotherham’s were considered to be one of the finest volume watchmakers in England at the time.  Dial is fine and white with black Roman numbers and Gold spade pointers.  Seconds dial at number six position.  A couple of minor nips to the beveled  edge of crystal but very acceptable.  There is a lovely antique decorated monogram to the back of case.  For a watch being over 100 years old, it shows just minor normal wear to case.  52 cm diameter. This is a very interesting, good looking  and collectible pocket watch.  Add a nice sterling chain from the same period and you will be very cool and good to go!
