P81

PIERCE Rare oversize jumbo mono button chronograph that is one of our favorite watches of all time.

PIERCE  Rare oversize jumbo single button  Military style stainless steel back and stepped bezel  Chronograph with a well running 17 jewel  Pierce in house movement which is extremely rare today. Pierce was marketed as a 4 in 1 watch in that it contained a timekeeper, a stopwatch, a telemetre scale to measure sound distance as well as a tachymetre scale to measure speed. 38 mm  diameter excluding pushers.  This watch is in very fine condition.

The British government was the largest contractor of the Pierce Chrono until the end of the second World  War. Because of their beautiful   dials, the Pierce Chronographs were used extensively by the British Army's medical division.

This  Rare and highly collectible chronograph with a mildly aged dark green/black  dial and luminous Arabic numbers. All the numbers are in GOLD as well as the kite hands.   Dial is in excellent mildly aged condition with all the numbers and lines showing well and clear. The  Gold  chrono sweep adds to this very attractive and cool chronograph and actually one of our favorites of all times.  There is currently a green/khaki Nato strap on this watch which looks terrific.  All functions are working as they should.

This model was referred to as a navigator pilot’s chronograph during the late 40's. and  Pierce Chronographs were selected as the official watch for the flight crew of Trans-Caribbean Airlines.   Looks very vintage – very military and very special!  Belongs in  everyone's military and chronograph collection.
